Seriously, we at takenote.ca are trying to move on from post-debate, Springfield cat and dog stories, especially now that JD has admitted on CNN to the fabrication of such stories so that American media will pay attention to him. Hello? I will lie through my teeth so I can tell you the truth about suffering Americans. Something is wrong here. No lie!
The pushback however has been brilliant, and Haitian restaurants in Ohio and everywhere have never had better business. For descriptions of the best Haitian food go here. Thanks JD. Find a restaurant near you. And Americans, vote blue. Make sure you are eligible to vote. Find your voting location as soon as possible. Encourage people of all ages to vote. Cheerlead one another. Get out the vote.
Other residual debate fodder circles around plans and concepts of plans—or no plans at all. (Cue white screen.) And then comes Taylor, once rumored to appear at the Democratic National Convention, now an enthusiastic Harris/Walz supporter. Not everyone agrees however. Poor Kid Rock (who, admittedly, I know nothing about and have no plans to investigate).
Finally, moving to the macro level, why do so many of us think separation, competition, denigration, humiliation, defamation, that these are good for a nation, or for our world? Where do we learn this stuff? We all started out as babies, some in more secure and nourishing settings than others for sure, but wow. What are we doing to each other; we are not moving in a good direction.
Obviously, I try—and you dear readers also try—to do better. But the huge number of folks who are hardcore Trump supporters, those who covet an experience of power over others and over circumstances beyond anyone’s control, all backed by supine republicans who hope Trump will open the door to a new conservative (read: self-centred and arrogant) world, a world that looks like the 1930s in Western Europe, the size of this constituency is frustratingly huge. I don’t think it’s growing; though I remain hopeful that the Harris/Walz ticket can grow enough in the time available to confront and overcome the beast. (More on the Book of Revelation later.)
It’s a small contribution for sure, but possibly, humor and wit help us smile amongst so much that makes us cry or explode in anger. Enough for now.
