Rest in Peace Bishop Terry Brown — 1944-2024

Maylanne and I are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Bishop Terry Brown. While details remains imprecise at this time we know that he had not been responding to emails or texts. He had not been responding to emails or texts and was found on Easter morning by Sister Heather, CSC.
He was a theologian, teacher and passionate advocate for the Pacific islands amidst environmental and social justice concerns. Recently he had been organizing the upcoming MRI (Mutual Responsibility and Interdependence) at 60 conference and promoting the book Partnership as Mission, a project he personally inspired, honouring Ellie Johnson as a former partner in mission himself. His chapter in the collection
From Partnership to Friendship: How a Canadian Anglican Priest became a Bishop in the South Pacific deserves careful study. Other similar projects were in development which now await the attention of other scholars and teachers.
+Terry never slowed down in retirement – and will be remembered for his hard work, passion in mission, and keen intellect. He was a friend and mentor to so many. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.

This picture of Ellie Johnson was taken by Bishop Terry following his consecration as Bishop of Malaita in 1996. This image inspired the Partnership as Mission book project.
