Walzing Kamala

The US presidential race game board gains another chess piece in Tim Walz, Governor of Minnesota, a sort of Midwestern America all round good guy, an army and national guard man, dog and cat lover, former member though now critic of the NRA, almost identical in age to Ms. Harris though looking at them you would not know it, a progressive Dem who as governor just gets the job done with little collateral damage, at least so friends, colleagues and the occasional opponent sayS.

So our growing collection now includes Governor Walz along with other favourite subjects. Race, gender, power imbalance, social justice continues to engage our artists. Our team at TakeNote.ca continue to search 24/7ish for enjoyable and inspired content.

Two Weeks In

Now in her second week of campaigning following the withdrawal of Joe Biden’s presidential candidacy the Harris team continues to create marvellous, pithy, witty, biting, and creative images for social media distribution. Staff at TakeNote.ca continue to monitor the campaigns carefully and are pleased to share some recent creations. We include for the first some material directed at J D Vance who continues to jeopardize any positive gains for the Trump side. Enjoy.

NOTE: Fox news has admitted an error in their own poll reporting; Harris and Trump are equally positioned in Michigan. Did I say Fox News? I did.

Earlier in the campaign, at 100 days

As of today, the US presidential election is one hundred days out. Who would have believed two weeks ago that Kamala Harris would emerge as the candidate of choice for democrats. She has had a tremendous week, and likely, hopefully the first of many more.

Two groups of people have been busy of late. The Trump team has had to re-jig their program for a very different target. Now Trump is the old guy, who now seems reluctant to debate a former prosecutor of felons. He now faces a young, intelligent, articulate, compassionate, seasoned politician. Sure, she stumbled in a failed primary run and was constrained by the strictures of the vice-presidential role. Those shackles now removed, and with Joe Biden still minding the store, she is free to campaign, meeting Americans of all stripes and convictions (pun?), presently going from strength to strength. With the Democratic national convention just a few weeks away, it will be fascinating to watch her develop her brand and reach out to a deeply divided America.

The other busy group is a collection of graphic designers, campaign artists, amateur and professional media influencers who are producing a huge array of witty, insightful, telling and at times biting visual comments on this emerging national and international political figure.

Do I have a favourite image? Rosie the Riveter redux is brilliant. And check out those liberal statuesque legs. The history of inclusive activism sets Kamala within the history of BIPOC struggle. Madam President gives us all something and someone in who to place our hope and trust. The comment on strength is as brilliant as it is pithy.

More to be added over time. The collection, and the campaigning continues. Your contributions are most welcome.
