You’ve got this

A message from Bishop Deon K Johnson
Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri

[Ken Gray] Enjoy this lovely note from the Bishop of Missouri. At this very busy time in the church year, where lay and clergy leaders, including musicians and others who care for worship in congregations large and small, his message is timely.

Now in retirement I have some ability to choose my commitments and responsibilities. In years past during Holy Week and Easter my service did not always feel like perfect freedom. As it turns out I will not attend any worship Good Friday this year. Possibly a pilgrimage by the lake with camera will be my duty and delight today. See what happens.

With thanks to Bishop Johnson here is his message.

Dear Clergy and Lay Leaders,

God’s got you! You’ve got this! As we enter into these three sacred days of Jesus’ death and resurrection, know that what you offer, small or great, it is enough. Things will go wrong. Copiers will give up the ghost. Volunteers will be missing. All shall be well

Know this, you cannot hasten nor hinder God’s work, no matter how hard you try. The cross will be occupied for a time. The tomb will be occupied for a time. They will both be empty for all time.

What you offer is enough. Thank you for your dedication, for your ministry, and especially for your witness to Jesus our Savior.

God’s got you! You’ve got this!

A blessed Triduum & Joyous Easter
