Juno REDUX—Five favourite 2023 blog posts

If it’s good enough for The Guardian and for The New York Times, each running selected stories and opinion pieces between Christmas and New Years presently, it’s good enough for me, Juno. Welcome to Juno REDUX, a look back at my canine journalistic parlance par excellence  during 2023.

I must start with Therapy Dog Team, a story of companionship, of caring and of outreach, inspired by and facilitated by MaPaw Kathie. Since I came home from the kennel, the plan was always for us to form a therapy team together. We have had two gigs now; one is dropped; the other continues well.

In the Belle of the Ball I celebrated the role of the ball in my life and in the life of the dog park. If humans exchange money, we dogs exchange balls, constantly. Such sharing builds trust, develops confidence, and strengthens our community. Give it a try.

Rory was a dog associated with the family of the eminent historian, Peter Brown, Professor of history emeritus at Princeton. PaPaw worked carefully through his recent autobiography, Journeys of the Mind: A Life in History and chanced upon the story of Rory. Enjoy. We need to canine biographies people. Enough of Lassie. More of Olive and Mabel please.

OK, I admit, the story Arrested and Behind Bars is someone overblown. I have never met Donald Trump, and I have no desire to do so—except possibly to piddle on his foot. Nuff said. And yes, I am glad to be alive after my arrested trip towards Naramata.

Finally, as the three of us move through our second year here in Summerland, Life in My Little Town  is a paean of pleasure about life in our little town. It must be said however, that the next day was less pleasing, but the day I wrote the blog, all was well, so very well.

I enjoy the sleep of the blessed, at the night and through much of the day. I am so very fortunate. I wish the same for you, dear reader. I wish you and yours a wonderful transition to the new year. Sure, it’s just the turn of a page in a calendar, but hey, let’s pretend that life starts over, and everything is beautiful. We can but hope.
